CFSA OFFICIALS EDUCATION PROGRAM

The following is a brief description of each of the courses currently offered by the CFSA and its member provinces.
Level One Course
The clinic is for first time officials. It is essentially an orientation session which overviews the infrastructure of competitions with attention to the following:
- The role of an official
- The organizational structure of the CFSA
- The structure within the hosting province
- Events and Competition sites
- Basic overview of rules
- Officials categories and job descriptions
- Event organization
- Risk Management and Safety
- Officials Code of Conduct
- CFSA Officials Certification Stream
There is no prerequisite to attend this clinic other than the participants must be members of the CFSA.
Duration: 6 hours
Level Two Course
This clinic is for management officials (those who take a lead role in the organization of competitions). It takes a more in-depth look into the following:
- Areas of responsibility
- Review of officials education system
- Event organization
- Sites
- Homologation
- Planning & layout
- Personnel
- Scheduling
- Budgeting
- Operating Agreements
- Risk Management
- Site Preparation
- Field of play
- On-hill installations
- Administration
- Organizer’s Stress Management
Prerequisite: CFSA member, Level One Course completed
Duration: 12 hours (maybe less depending on the experience of the participants)
TechnicalDelegate(TD) Orientation
This clinic is for those experienced officials looking into becoming Technical Delegates. The clinic overviews the various aspects of becoming a TD including the following:
• Definition of a TD
• TD vs. Chief of Competition vs. Organizing Committee Chair
• Responsibilities of the position
• Rights and duties of the TD
• The Basics
• The ideal candidate
• TD’s Equipment
• Homologation
• TD reports (FIS, National, Club)
• TD levels and prerequisites
Prerequisites: CFSA member, Level Two Course completed, experience in as many aspects of competitions as possible, and endorsement from your regional Head Official.
Duration: 6 hours
All courses are as interactive as possible. Participants are encouraged to ask any question technical, procedural or otherwise because the object of the exercise is to produce the most competent and professional officials no matter what level they wish to officiate.
