FSO Park & Pipe Ranking Procedures January 2008
Athletes will have a ranking for Park & Pipe as per the RPA system.
RPA stands for Rating Points Average. It is the basis for ranking Ontario athletes in Park & Pipe events. RPA is determined by awarding the best score an RPA of 1000. All other scores will then be a percentage of the best score. In other words we divide all the scores by the winning score then multiply that by the value of the event.
Events will have different values factored in relative to the caliber of the event.
Here is an example of the math:
Athlete RPA will be calculated as follows for a World Cup event worth 90%.
22.0 (athlete score) / 24.0 (winner’s score) *1000 (RPA) * .90% (value) = 825 RPA
Guidelines for entering data into the MS Excel Spreadsheet for RPA Rankings:
Two ranking lists are established one for male athletes and one for female athletes using results from CFSA or FIS sanctioned events of Provincial level or higher using only the RPA, regardless of the age category they represent, FSO will rank all eligible athletes in an overall category.

· Athletes’ scores will be entered for qualifying rounds and final rounds but only their higher RPA from that event will be selected for the rankings. Qualifying scores will be compared to qualifying winner’s score and final scores will be compared to the final winner’s score for the sake of relativity.
o This format is to offer more opportunity to the athlete to get better scores for ranking purposes in a development discipline and program.
o With this format it is possible that 2 athletes could attain the same RPA from an event - winner or not, so for this reason qualification rounds will be worth 2% less.
· An athlete’s overall FSO Park & Pipe Ranking total will be the sum of his/her best two RPA results from the below approved events.
· Once all athletes’ totals have been established a ranking list will be sorted from highest total RPA to Lowest total RPA.
· Data entry will be done at least 2x/month. This is dependant on receiving proper and official result sheets in a timely manner after competitions.
